Christopher Nolan will be Joined by Virtual Reality Maestro Chris Milk at LFF Industry Talk

Alongside Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan will be virtual reality maestro Chris Milk as well as writer, director, visual artist and vocalist Laurie Anderson and filmmaker and artist Guy Maddin for a discussion on the future of film at the London Film Festival on 9th October.

Matthew Algie to Showcase its New Products Talents at Lunch

Leading independent coffee roaster, Matthew Algie, will once again be exhibiting at Lunch! – the food-to-go industry trade show.

Matthew Algie is a well-established coffee shop authority, supplying coffee, machines, training and industry insight to thousands of operators across the UK and Ireland.

Among the coffees available to sample will be Matthew Algie’s latest hand-roasted microlots, Ruby’s Red Quartet and Crafty Little Number 3.0.

Meanwhile, for those looking for insider tips, a team of coffee specialists from Matthew Algie will be on hand to talk about everything from coffee trends and menu development to selecting the perfect machine and getting the most from staff training.

FEAST in Frankfurt

It’s always exciting to travel the world, visit new places, experience new cultures and try different foods from other areas of the globe. As such, FEAST endeavours to try and offer a snapshot of the various experiences available and provide you with thought-provoking suggestions for your own excursions.

We’ve reviewed a number of venues across both the UK and internationally over the years, including venues and attractions both large and small, yet all offering only the highest quality of experience and quality for guests. From Gleneagles up in Scotland to Celebrity Cruises around the world and now all the way to the Breeze by Lebua at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof (pictured) in the centre of Frankfurt, Germany.


Established in 1876, the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof is located in the heart of the historic, financial district of Frankfurt and therefore offers a perfect, central location for excursions out into the city for wanderers. The Hotel itself offers a blend of both traditional and modern décor with stunning architecture and a real sense of prestige which runs throughout the entirety of the venue.

Afforded by the hotel’s location, guests can quite easily venture out both day and night to experience the historic culture of Frankfurt or try one of the numerous restaurants and bars available for patrons in the evening. That said, with the Michelin starred restaurant, Français and the Breeze by Lebua on site, the question beckons as to whether you’d either want or need to venture out at all.

September, 2015 – FEAST in Frankfurt. We sent Hayley Toth (pictured), Journalist and Rachael Jones, Photographer to Frankfurt on behalf of FEAST Magazine to provide some insight into the rich culture of Frankfurt, the various sights on offer and some suggestions on some prime locations for food, drink and entertainment in the area.

Over the course of the trip Hayley and Rachael visited a number of venues, sights and attractions in Frankfurt itself and also had the honour of reviewing the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof itself and Breeze by Lebua (also pictured) specifically.


Of course, it goes without saying that, when looking at brand names such as Lebua and Steigenberger, only the best is on offer. Both brands awed and inspired our team alongside other guests who found themselves to be quite taken in by the luxurious yet modern atmosphere of Breeze and the sheer architectural heritage and splendour of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof.

IMAX audiences will see New Survival Movie Everest First

Universal Pictures’ EVEREST may now be experienced by IMAX® 3D audiences one week earlier in the UK, when it releases exclusively in IMAX 3D and other select cinemas on today. The film will be released wide—including standard 2D and 3D—on Friday, 18 September, 2015.

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.  Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hilton London Bankside Introduces its ‘Magnificent Seven’

The design-inspired Hilton London Bankside, on track to open this month has revealed the line-up of its top management team, who will be responsible for the launch of the hotel. Located in London’s vibrant Bankside the hotel is built and managed by the Splendid Hospitality Group.

The ‘Magnificent Seven’ set to launch the hotel this month includes James Clarke (General Manager), Kelly Eichholtz (Director of Business Development), Paul Bates (Executive Chef), Raoul de Souza (Director of Food & Beverage), Ivan Drinkwater (Director of Finance), Kim Mouflier (Director of Rooms) and Stephen Atkinson (Head of Event Planning). “We have put together a highly talented, award winning team to launch this stunning hotel,” reveals Stuart Bailey, CEO of Splendid Hospitality. “Between them they have won a host of hospitality industry awards including three Cateys, an Acorn and numerous internal awards. At the helm as general manager is double Catey winner James Clarke who has joined from Hilton Park Lane where he was Director of Operations. James has also gained international experience with the Waldorf Astoria in New York and last year he was awarded a scholarship by the Master Innholders to complete a General Manager Programme at Cornell University in the USA. Director of Business Development, Kelly Eichholtz joins from Crowne Plaza London – The City where she was Director of Sales and Marketing. Kelly brings with her extensive experience of national key account management working with Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) across the UK and Ireland as well as 8 years of solid central London ‘city’ experience.

Acorn winner Paul Bates was recognised for his outstanding culinary talent early in his career. Paul joins as Executive Chef from The Beaumont Hotel and InterContinental Park Lane and will leading the all-day dining menus at OXBO Bankside and The Distillery. Raoul de Souza is also a team Catey winner (Conference and Banqueting team of the year for Grosvenor House) and joins as Director of Food and Beverage. Raoul achieved recognition as the 2011 Restauranteur of the Year for the JW Marriott brand.

As Director of Finance, Ivan Drinkwater joins from Four Seasons Hotel group where he worked at director level for 8 years across two hotels in their portfolio. Kim Mouflier takes up her role as Director of Rooms joining from the InterContinental Park Lane where she was front office manager.

Cafe Quality Food and Drink Awards

The first ever finalists from the Café Quality Food and Drink Awards have been announced today, and Simply Ice Cream is a finalist in two categories. Of the hundreds of nominations only 36 products have been shortlisted in 13 categories, so this is a huge achievement for the Ashford based company.

Their Christmas Pudding Ice Cream is a finalist in the Christmas Q category, and the multi-award winning Heavenly Honeycomb is shortlisted for the Desserts & Puddings section. Both flavours are previous Great Taste Award winners, with the Honeycomb achieving the highest accolade of 3 Gold Stars. “To be shortlisted for the Café Quality Food and Drink Awards is another boost for the team”, explains company director and founder, Sally Newall, “It has been an exceptionally busy year for the company and this award is testament to our absolute focus on quality driving our success”

Judging for the awards took place at the University of West London in August and was based on the credibility, transparency and robustness of the process originated by the Quality Food Awards; now in its 36th year. All entrants will receive feedback from the judging panel, and winners and finalists will be able to use the ‘Q’ logo on pack and in consumer advertising.

IMAX To Screen New Film “The Walk” Before Anyone Else

IMAX cinemas in the UK will screen Robert Zemeckis’ new film The Walk a week before it enters cinemas nationwide, reports Top 10 Films.

Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President of IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment, said, “No one understands IMAX better than our longtime partner Bob Zemeckis – he is an artistic genius who uses all of his expertise to give audiences an edge-of-your-seat thrill that will make moviegoers feel like they are out on the tightrope themselves.”

Soreen adds New Flavour to Halloween “Scream” Range

Soreen, maker of The Original Malt Loaf, is launching a new flavour, Chocolate and Blood Orange, as part of its limited edition ‘Scream’ range of Lunchbox Loaves for one of the biggest seasonal events of the year for some retailers, Halloween.

Chocolate and Blood Orange, made using natural orange and blood orange flavourings with milk chocolate chips, will be available in five individually wrapped Lunchbox loaves with a Halloween-themed party idea on pack at a RRP of £1.35. The Scream range will be listed in Tesco, Asda and Morrison’s from the 21 September to 8 November.

Paul Tripp, UK Managing Director of Soreen, said: “Our limited edition Scream range enjoyed great success when in launched in 2014, so we’re confident that this new flavour addition will be devilishly successful and build on the already strong growth in Soreen Lunchbox Loaves.

“Falling on a Saturday this year, Halloween will undoubtedly result in more consumers making the most of the opportunity to celebrate.”

Soreen’s value sales have risen by 15.1% and volume sales by 9.4% over the past year and penetration has increased from 22% in 2011 to 31.9% at May 2015 as the brand has added new products to its core lines and invested in above the line advertising.
