Birmingham’s pizza scene is about to get a serious upgrade. Much-loved London-born pizzeria Pizza Pilgrims is opening its first Midlands restaurant this autumn – and they’re celebrating the only way they know how: with a soft launch offering half-price food and drinks and a giveaway of 1,000 free slices.
The doors to Pizza Pilgrims’ new Birmingham home, located at Unit MK8, Grand Central, Stephenson Place, officially swing open on Monday 3rd November. But ahead of the grand opening, the team are warming up with a five-day soft launch from 27th to 31st October, giving diners the chance to tuck into authentic Neapolitan pizza for just half the price. With tables already booking fast, foodies are being urged to book ahead now to secure a spot.
Slice Day: Free Pizza for the City
If that wasn’t enough to tempt hungry Brummies, the Pilgrims are also bringing their famous Slice Day north of the Watford Gap. On Wednesday 29th October, they’ll be handing out a total of 1,000 free slices to their new neighbours.
The giveaway will run in two sittings – 500 slices at 12pm and another 500 at 5pm – all dished out on a first-come, first-served basis until they run out. Whether you’re on your lunch break, finishing work, or just passing through Grand Central, it’s your chance to get a taste of the cult pizzeria’s wood-fired magic without spending a penny.
A Slice of Naples in the Heart of Birmingham
Founded by brothers Thom and James Elliot, Pizza Pilgrims has built a loyal following in London and beyond for its serious yet playful take on Neapolitan pizza. Think pillowy sourdough bases, blistered crusts from the wood-fired oven, and toppings that range from classic Margherita to indulgent double pepperoni with spicy honey.
Speaking ahead of the Birmingham launch, the founders said:
“Ahead of opening our first Birmingham restaurant, in true Pizza Pilgrims style, we’re giving the city a taste of what’s to come with half price tables and 1,000 slices up for grabs on our famous Slice Day! Nothing says welcome like a taste of authentic Neapolitan pizza.”
For the Elliot brothers, this marks an exciting milestone. Birmingham has long been on their radar, and with the city’s thriving food culture and central location, Grand Central provides the perfect stage for their Midlands debut.
What to Expect
The Birmingham restaurant promises the same lively, laid-back atmosphere Pizza Pilgrims is known for, complete with a menu designed for sharing, feasting, and a bit of fun. Alongside pizzas, diners can expect Italian-inspired starters, desserts like Nutella pizza ring, and a drinks list that balances cocktails, wines, and craft beers with Italian classics.
The pizzeria will open seven days a week, meaning Neapolitan joy is never more than a few steps away for commuters, shoppers, and late-night pizza hunters.
