UK private number plate specialist Plates4Less has announced the most expensive registrations sold during 2025, confirming the year as record-breaking for the personalised number plate sector.
Throughout 2025, a limited number of exceptionally rare plates commanded six-figure sums, cementing the rise of what Plates4Less now calls the “Hyper Plate”. These premium registrations are typically short, dateless and instantly recognisable, often centred around a single digit – ideally “1”. Their rarity and status make them the most exclusive personalised number plates on the market today.
In 2025, several headline-grabbing transactions pushed expectations higher than ever before. Notable high-value sales include:

The next DVLA auction is scheduled for 13 January, where the highly anticipated registration 15 LAM is due to be sold. Market experts and Plates4Less expect this plate to be among the top sales of the auction, reinforcing continued strength at the premium end of the market.
