With the September 1st deadline edging ever closer, Premier League clubs have been splashing the cash this summer—and many are showing no signs of letting up until the transfer window closes.
While the record-breaking £2.36bn spend from last summer is unlikely to be topped, this year’s window has still seen remarkable figures. Over £1bn was spent in record time, with almost half a billion shelled out in the initial 10-day window that opened ahead of the Club World Cup.
Whether it’s a bid to strengthen their title challenge or make themselves less vulnerable in the Premier League relegation odds, clubs across the table are investing heavily in hopes of reshaping their fortunes. Here are the biggest spenders of the summer so far.
Liverpool
Liverpool are on a record-breaking spree, spending close to £300m—more than in any previous window in the club’s history. The standout move was the £116m capture of Florian Wirtz, a club-record fee that helped push Liverpool’s total spend to the sixth highest of all time in a single window worldwide.
And there could be more to come. If the Reds manage to land Alexander Isak from Newcastle, in a deal that could exceed £130m, they would break the record for the most spent by any club in one window.
Chelsea
Chelsea’s lavish spending continues under Todd Boehly, with over £250m committed for a fourth consecutive summer. The Blues have added Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato, reinforcing both youth and depth across the squad.
Further business looks likely, with Xavi Simons reportedly nearing a move and Alejandro Garnacho also a possible addition before the deadline.
Arsenal
Arsenal have once again backed Mikel Arteta in the market, spending around £200m in their pursuit of a long-awaited trophy. The Gunners have consistently challenged for the title in recent seasons but are yet to turn that into silverware.
Viktor Gyokeres is their marquee signing this summer, arriving from Sporting Lisbon as the potential solution to Arsenal’s long-standing need for a reliable striker.
Manchester City
Manchester City front-loaded much of their business early in the summer, spending around £100m during the first 10-day window. Their signings include Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, and Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
They’ve since added goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley for £27m, providing backup to Ederson as they look to refresh and reinforce ahead of another long season.
Manchester United
After finishing 15th and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham, Manchester United have responded with a spend of over £130m to bolster their chances in the football betting.
Backed by owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and under Ruben Amorim for his first full season in charge, the club is undergoing yet another rebuild.
Much of the budget has gone toward attacking reinforcements, including Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Benjamin Sesko remains a target and could cost upwards of £60m if United can beat Newcastle to his signature.

There’s still time for plenty of late drama, with clubs across the league expected to remain active right up to deadline day.
For now, though, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal lead the way in yet another summer of staggering Premier League spending.
