Majestic aims to become one of UK’s largest wine suppliers to the on-trade and hospitality sectors within the next five years
Majestic Commercial, the on-trade specialist arm of the UK’s largest specialist wine retailer, Majestic, has signed a landmark partnership with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.
Majestic Commercial will be responsible for supplying all still and sparkling wine across Macdonald Hotels & Resorts’ 32 UK locations, which include luxury hotels, spas, leisure clubs and golf resorts. The group’s flagship destinations include The Drumossie Hotel in Inverness, The Bear Hotel in the Cotswolds, Elmers Hotel & Spa in the New Forest and Bath Spa Hotel.
The new multi-year deal represents another high-profile addition to Majestic Commercial’s rapidly growing portfolio of on-trade and hospitality customers. It now supplies more than 3,000 gastropubs, bars, restaurants, fine dining operators, hotels and events venues in all four corners of the UK, including Manchester City Football Club, Lucia Group, Michelin star restaurant Pied A Terre, The Cavendish and JCB Golf & Country Club.
Majestic identified its B2B arm as a key growth driver for the group following its split from Naked Wines plc and subsequent acquisition by Fortress Investment Group in 2019. It has ambitious plans to become one of the UK’s largest wine suppliers to the on-trade within the next five years.
Majestic Commercial has recorded significant growth since the Covid-19 pandemic, clocking up three consecutive years of double digit sales increases as it accelerates its growth strategy. It has invested heavily in growing its sales teams; striking exclusive agency agreements with global drinks brands including Peyrassol, Ghost in the Machine by Bruce Jack and Blake Lively’s Betty Buzz and Betty Booze; and building its portfolio of on-trade exclusive wines to more than 250 products.
Earlier this year, Majestic Commercial’s impressive progress was recognised by the industry when it was crowned On-Trade Supplier of the Year at the Drinks Business Awards 2024 – the first time the business has ever won the prestigious prize. It was also named as one of Harpers Wine & Spirits’ Top 50 Drinks Wholesalers 2024 earlier this week.
