Our flexible model allows students to learn from anywhere, mitigating logistical and budgeting headaches for many of them who may struggle via a traditional university learning experience
Despite a challenging environment for the UK’s further education sector, healthcare specialists, Learna have announced strong results on the back of its March enrolment intake.
In the midst of falling student numbers across the country, Learna has bucked the trend, having successfully secured 1,063 postgraduate students in March. The intake of postgraduate healthcare students are now on the next step to broadening their knowledge and skillset within their specialist fields.
Rachel Ellis, CCO at Learna comments: “Learna’s March intake has broken the trend of falling student numbers across UK further education institutions. The results reflect a consensus amongst students that quality and flexibility are crucial requirements when selecting their postgraduate pathway.
“Healthcare professionals lead hectic schedules, but this shouldn’t deter them from accessing postgraduate qualifications for the benefit of their long-term career goals. Since our inception, Learna has prided itself on equally flexible and quality learning for our students. Refusing to compromise on these two values, has instilled confidence into healthcare professionals who now know they can better themselves by studying with Learna.
“When looking at the postgraduate market, we see institutions struggling to attract students to enrol – particularly from overseas. Our flexible model allows students to learn from anywhere, mitigating logistical and budgeting headaches for many of them who may struggle via a traditional university learning experience. Traditional brick-and-mortar institutions have been forced to pivot during periods since COVID-19, but we have been operating via a flexible model since day one.
“Rising visa fees, falling bursary funding and tightened government controls have all contributed towards deterring overseas students who may previously considered studying in the UK. With these mounting factors, Learna are pleased to break this concerning trend and support crucially important healthcare workers to further themselves through postgraduate education.”
The latest data shows that the number of study visas issued is 33% lower compared to the same time as last year across 60 UK universities.
Ellis continues: “Despite the challenging conditions, Learna will continue to improve and expand its offering to attract crucial healthcare professionals to give themselves the edge ahead of the next step in their career and, ultimately, improve outcomes for their patients.
“At a time when the skills shortage gap continues to widen, now is the time for healthcare workers to improve their learning and development, whilst at the same time continuing to provide quality care in their respected fields of expertise. Failing to do so will only allow the problem to widen and threaten the sector.
“Here at Learna, we are now looking ahead to our September intake which we are hopeful to exceed the results we have seen in the Spring. We want to continue demonstrating that despite the difficult conditions, healthcare professionals can turn to a UK-based postgraduate partner able to provide quality and flexible education to help provide the UK with the brightest and most talented healthcare sector.”
