The Beer of Barcelona has been announced as an official beer partner of INEOS Britannia, who are challenging to win the historic America’s Cup, flying the flag for Estrella Damm and Great Britain.
Estrella Damm has announced its official beer partnership with INEOS Britannia for the 37th America’s Cup. Held in Barcelona, the America’s Cup returns, with partner Estrella Damm as the official beer sponsor – Barcelona’s oldest beer has officially teamed up with the world’s oldest international sporting trophy, bringing a premium, yet accessible spin on the traditional competition to the general public.
The INEOS Britannia team is skippered by the most successful sailor in Olympic history, Sir Ben Ainslie. Having previously won the 34th America’s Cup, Ainslie reprises his Team CEO and Skipper role.
The current crew consists of: David ‘Freddie’ Carr, Ben Cornish, Dylan Fletcher, Matt Gotrel, Neil Hunter, Iain Jensen, Harry Leask, Leigh McMillan, Bleddyn Mon, Luke Parkinson, Matt Rossiter, Giles Scott, James Skulczuk, Ryan Todhunter, will be the first British Challengers of Record to compete in the America’s Cup since 1930. INEOS Britannia will compete against four fellow challenging teams (Alinghi Red Bull Racing, NYYC American Magic, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Orient Express Racing Team) to earn the right to face the America’s Cup Defender Emirates Team New Zealand.
Known as ‘the F1 of the seas’, the America’s Cup commences on 22nd August 2024 with the preliminary regatta rounds in Barcelona, with all six America’s Cup teams competing in their new AC75 race boats. Next, the five challengers will compete against each other in the Louis Vuitton Cup (29 August – 7 October ) which will determine which team will face the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Match (12-27 October).
