In September 2022, the presentation attracted a record-low audience of 5.9 million people on a night when there was less competition for viewers’ attention. This year, the Emmys will compete against live coverage of the Iowa Caucuses and an NFL playoff game involving the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. By paying homage to beloved television programs like “The Sopranos,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “I Love Lucy,” Emmy producers want to draw in viewers. Others might be interested in learning more about the manner or scope in which the event will address the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes from the previous year. The 75th Emmy Award nominees were revealed by the Television Academy of the United States on July 12th of last year. Television Academy President Frank Scherma and actress Yvette Nicole Brown presided over an event that unveiled the nominations. Less than 48 hours had passed since the start of the actors’ union strike, which forced the entertainment sector to cease all production and marketing. This was the nomination ceremony.
With 27 nominations, HBO’s drama series “Succession” is the front-runner for this edition’s Emmys. With 24 nominations, “The Last of Us” is the second most nominated series, behind season 2 of “The White Lotus,” which also garnered 23 nominations from HBO/Max.
