The 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships are set to take place in Fredericton, Canada, from April 26 to May 3, featuring 20 elite teams competing for the world title. Beyond the championship glory, teams will also be vying for crucial Olympic Qualification Points, which will help determine the final quota spots for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Tournament Format & Key Details
The competition begins with a round-robin stage, where the 20 teams are divided into two groups of 10. Each team will face every other team in their group, with the top three advancing to the playoffs.
- Group A: Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland, South Korea, Sweden
- Group B: Australia, Czechia, Estonia, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States
The group winners will advance directly to the semifinals, while the second and third-place teams will compete in qualification games (A2 vs. B3 and B2 vs. A3) for a spot in the final four.
Top Teams to Watch
With only six teams progressing to the playoffs, the competition will be fierce. Here are the top contenders to keep an eye on:
Canada: Jocelyn Peterman & Brett Gallant
Ranked 5th in the world, this duo is chasing Canada’s first-ever gold in this event. Peterman and Gallant won silver in 2019 and narrowly missed the playoffs in 2023. Gallant, fresh off a bronze at the 2025 World Men’s Championship, brings valuable experience.
Estonia: Marie Kaldvee & Harri Lill
The world No. 1 mixed doubles pair stunned Canada in last year’s playoffs and claimed silver. Can they go one step further this time?
Italy: Stefania Constantini & Amos Mosaner
The reigning Olympic champions are always a threat. Despite Italy already securing a 2026 Olympic spot as hosts, expect them to compete fiercely.
Norway: Kristin Skaslien & Magnus Nedregotten
This veteran duo is competing in their ninth Worlds together. With two Olympic medals (2018 bronze, 2022 silver) and multiple Worlds podiums, they remain a powerhouse.
Scotland: Jennifer Dodds & Bruce Mouat
Mouat, a recent World Men’s Champion, teams up with Dodds—2021 gold medalists in this event. Their experience and chemistry make them serious contenders.
Sweden: Anna Hasselborg & Oskar Eriksson
Hasselborg and Eriksson won gold in 2019, and Eriksson added an Olympic bronze in 2022. With Sweden defending last year’s title, they’ll be hungry for another win.
Switzerland: Alina Pätz & Sven Michel
Pätz and Michel have medaled in both of their previous Worlds appearances (gold in 2021, silver in 2022). Both are coming off strong performances in recent tour events.
USA: Cory Thiesse & Korey Dropkin
The 2023 World Champions are back and recently won the U.S. Olympic Trials. They’ll be looking to secure their spot in Milano Cortina with another strong showing.
