This September (Monday 16th), the nation’s hottest chefs are once again returning to the kitchens at The Dorchester in London for Leukaemia UK’s flagship event ‘Who’s Cooking Dinner. Tickets to this exclusive event are now on sale, so grab a slice of the action while you can.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this one-of-a-kind event sees chefs from across the country’s top restaurants and dining destinations unite to raise money for Leukaemia UK by creating, cooking and serving up their culinary creations to tables of fine dining fans. The twist? No one knows who’ll be cooking for their table until they arrive at the glamorous occasion.
For one night only, chefs including Clare Smyth, Tom Kerridge, Francesco Mazzei, Jeremy Lee, Elliott Grover and Jean-Philippe Blondet will be giving each table of ten guests their undivided attention to create a truly unforgettable experience.
Over the years, Who’s Cooking Dinner? has also been supported by Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsey, Marcus Wareing and Rick Stein who have joined the post-dinner auction by offering themselves up to cook at guests’ homes, and other ‘money-can’t buy’ experiences. This has all gone on to fund and support lifesaving leukaemia research.
This unique event, co-founded by restaurant luminaries Chris Corbin OBE and Peter Gordon ONZM in 1999, has raised over £7 million to date. This has helped Leukaemia UK to fund life-saving blood cancer research to stop the disease from devastating lives. Every hour, someone in the UK is diagnosed with leukaemia, a type of blood cancer, with 60,000 people in the UK currently living with the disease.
Chris Corbin is Leukaemia UK’s Trustee and one half of the duo Corbin & King who turned The Ivy, Le Caprice, J Sheekey and The Wolseley into London’s sought-after and prestigious eateries.
In 1990, at the age of 38, Chris was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and for the next four years, he and his family were left in limbo while they waited for a suitable bone marrow donor. Chef restaurateur Peter Gordon is famed for his legendary “fusion food” – and when his sister Tracey was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), he donated his bone marrow to save her life.
Chris Corbin said: ’25 years ago, Peter and I had an idea to create a fundraiser with a difference. We wanted to use our culinary contacts to produce an event that would be a headliner in the world of hospitality and raise much-needed funds for vital research into treatments for leukaemia. We are so proud of how Who’s Cooking Dinner has grown and become the event it is today.’
Michelin Star chef Tom Kerridge, who has been part of the event for the past 10 years, said: “Who’s Cooking Dinner? is one of the best charity events in London. It’s fantastic to see the UK’s restaurant industry come together to help raise vital funds for Leukaemia UK in such a fun and creative way. I’m looking forward to the next 25 years!’
