OakNorth Providing Fast and Flexible and Accessible Debt Finance

OakNorth is a UK bank that can provide fast and flexible as well as accessible debt finance to entrepreneurs in order to grow their business. The bank is the first in the UK to have its core systems hosted completely on the cloud, this occurred in May of last year. OakNorth has also grown its loan book to £370 million and has raised from over 7,000 more than £280 million in retail deposits. It has also become one of the fastest growing financial service companies in the UK. Founded by Rishi Khosla and Joe Perlman because of the trouble they had securing financial backing for their entrepreneurial idea Copal Amba.

OakNorth has completed a loan to Notes, the specialty coffee, food and wine company worth £600,000. The company Notes has already opened six different sites across the centre of London and the funding will be put towards opening two more sites. The new Specialty shops will be located in Victoria and Angel Court. The Brand hopes that the current success they are experiencing could allow them room for a great deal of expansion.

This loan to Notes will be the first completed by OakNorth that falls under the British Bank’s Help to Grow scheme. OakNorth joined the scheme in January 2017, and hopefully this will not be the last loan completed under this new scheme set up to help fast growing businesses reach their full potential.

Notes is a company that combines the concepts of a coffee chain and wine bar, and has benefitted from the Help to Grow scheme which will aim to provide up to £2 million to fast-growth businesses in an attempt to target the £1 billion gap found in the up-scale lending area of finance.

Notes was launched in 2010 and since has built a reputation on the quality of its coffee. It is a company that is commonly named amongst London’s top 10 coffee shops, an impressive feat for the specialist brand.  In March 2015, Notes supplied the coffee for the winner of the UK Barista Champion.

Notting Hill’s Burger Shack Opening on Monday 20th March

Notting Hill’s notable Burger Shack, Boom Burger will be opening on Monday 20th March. The restaurant will be opening with an offer of 50% off of all food for the opening week, the deal ends on Sunday 27th March.

The business is back with Caribbean flavors in order to add a little spice to the London drizzle. Boom Burger is also releasing a few new dishes for the opening. This includes the Fired Chicken Boom that has been made with buttermilk fried chicken and accompanied with scotch bonnet mayonnaise and the house coleslaw. Another addition is the Avocado Boom, which is a beef patty with cheese and fried avocado and covered in scotch bonnet sweet chilli sauce.

Based on Portobello Road in Notting Hill, the Burger Restaurant is owned by Josh De Lisser, who is inspired by his early upbringing in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Boom Burger will be using high quality British meat to produce their menu. Other things on the menu includes the fish salad, the Jerk Salad, as well as classical sticky Wings and Boom Wings. Also on the menu is the Boom fries and the Plantain Fries. Other interesting foods on the Boom Burger menu includes the Dutty Butty which is sweet-cured Bacon, with a fried egg and bacon jam, topped with a fresh avocado salsa. The restaurant seems to be capitalizing on the cosmopolitan food scene in London, bound to be successful located on Portobello road in the popular area of Notting Hill in London.

De Lisser and his team has also altered the cocktail menu by offering a Boom Juice, as well as offering more classic cocktails with a slight Caribbean twist. Drinks include Pina Colada, Rum Punch and Tropical Storm.

The restaurant will have a truly Caribbean feel, which included hosting parties every 3 months. These events will include reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop which will be provided by Boom Box, the music offerings of the restaurant.

Sting Performing on the 7th April at Manchester’s o2 Apollo

It has been announced that Sting will be performing on the 7th April at Manchester’s o2 Apollo. This will be one of his three UK shows while celebrating the release of is twelfth studio album. The new album is entitled ‘57th &9th’ and was released with the record company Polydor records in November last year. Sting has also recently released a new single entitled ‘50,000’ and is off his new album.

Sting has announced headline shows in the UK in London and Manchester as part of his 57th &9th Tour. This tour began in Vancouver in February and will contain only three UK shows, one in Manchester as already stated, and two at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on the 9th and 10th April. Sting will be joined on tour by a 3-piece band which will consist of Dominic Miller on guitar, Josh Freese on the drums and Rufus Miller, also on guitar. Other special guests on the tour will include the singer and songwriter Joe Summer and The Last Bandoleros, a San-Antonio based band.

His new single ’50,000’ deals with themes such as mortality and said to be directly influenced by the loss of a number of cultural icons last year. These cultural icons include David Bowie, Prince and Alan Rickman, who all seemed to die rather suddenly, or had decided not to release information about their illnesses. The single is meant to reflect the surprise at the loss of these figures and a realization of mortality due to this.

Sting was born in Wallsend in the North East of England and is famous being part of the 1970s and 80s band The Police and having hit tracks such as Every Breath You Take ad Roxanne. Sting left the group and released his first solo album in 1985. Since then he has had success with albums like Brand New Day, which included a reworking of some of his more classic hits.
