Houseplant.co.uk has published new data highlighting the UK’s favourite indoor plants, based on analysis of over 350,000 deliveries and 5,750 customer reviews.
London’s best-selling plant is the Areca Palm, closely followed by the Boston Fern. Manchester leads in purchases of the Swiss Cheese Plant, while Bristol is evenly split between the Boston Fern and Swiss Cheese Plant. Glasgow mirrors London’s preference for the Areca Palm, whereas Edinburgh opts for the Radiator Plant ‘Hope’, a compact choice suited to low-light environments.
Oxford has shown a growing interest in the Wandering Dude Nanouk, a trailing plant popular on social platforms. Meanwhile, Leeds is seeing strong demand for String of Turtles, and Liverpool has emerged as a key market for the Venus Fly Trap.
Rebecca Tapper, founder of Houseplant.co.uk, said: “The Areca Palm being on top isn’t a shock. It sells out constantly and has done for months. But Liverpool and carnivorous plants? That one we didn’t see coming. When you’ve got data from 350,000 deliveries, it throws up things you’d never guess.”
The company says its continued growth — doubling year on year — is driven by customer insights. Earlier this year, the team reviewed more than 7,000 customer interactions and implemented improvements including enhanced search tools and pot recommendations during checkout.
In addition, Houseplant.co.uk has introduced a comprehensive plant care library of 1,000 articles, allowing customers to search using natural, conversational language.
The retailer has delivered over 350,000 houseplants across the UK and currently holds more than 5,750 verified customer reviews. More information is available via its website.
