Mayfair is the kind of place that is worth exploring and not from the expediency of a car. You need to traverse this gorgeous place on foot to really savour all it has to offer. This place is one of the most luxurious places in London that just screams old money. There is a lot to love here, from luxury shopping to Michelin-star fine dining. Let’s take you through how to get to Mayfair, London and what to do when you get there!

How to Get to Mayfair: Transportation Options

    London Underground

For Tube users, there are several stations near Mayfair. Green Park Station will place you at the heart of the district and give you connections to the Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines. Bond Street and Oxford Circus Stations are within walking distance for access to the Central, Jubilee and Bakerloo lines. We’d recommend travelling out of rush-hour times to avoid busy carriages. To save the hassle of buying single-journey tickets, use an Oyster card or contactless payment around London.

    Buses

Numerous buses pass through Mayfair on routes 8, 10, 14, 38 and 73. Go online to Transport for London or download their app to find exact locations and timetables as well as live updates on your journey.

    Walking from Nearby Areas

If you are based in a nearby area like Soho, Covent Garden or Hyde Park then your travel time to Mayfair can be all by foot. So why not make the journey enjoyable and spend it wandering down some of London’s most picturesque streets to the district?

    Cycling and Rideshares

Cyclists can also use the range of Santander Cycles on offer across the city, including lanes that lead to Mayfair. Otherwise, jump in an Uber or Bolt taxi for a quick drop-off service.

    The Walking Tour Itinerary

    Start at Green Park

Starting with the walk from Green Park will instantly provide a sense of freedom and serenity to kick-start your day. With a royal park on your doorstep, many opt to walk to Mayfair from this point to be surrounded by stunning emerald greenery, peace and tranquillity. Take a moment to escape the hustle and bustle in one of the popular cafes to grab a coffee to go, before heading on your exploration of Mayfair.

    Stroll Through Piccadilly

From Green Park, take a quick stroll to Piccadilly Circus; it is known for its unique energy and famous neon signs; this vibrant road is not only great for taking a picture but also is a great place to have a view of the Criterion Theatre and Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain. As a central hub with so many different attractions, including must-visit restaurants and shopping districts, there is no better place to experience the heart of London.

    Explore Shepherd Market

Not too far from Picadilly is Shephered market. And yes, it is as quaint as it sounds. Think of something that would fit right in with the Shire except a tad bit more modern, with some lovely pubs to whet your whistle, decadent cafes and some restaurants to fuel you up!

    Visit Bond Street

Carry on and you will reach Bond Street with its famous shopping district. Definitely known for its top designer names and art gallery shows. Wander around the flag shop stores and if possible, explore the hidden galleries to widen the range of appreciating beauty in retail and art at the same time.

Discover the Royal Academy of Arts

The Royal Academy of Arts is a definite must-visit in Mayfair. Known internationally for its exhibition, step in to see its fascinating structure. Definitely should consider dining in its restaurant. You will absolutely drool from their wide selection of fine dishes. Their absolutely delectable dishes with fresh ingredients are guaranteed to satisfy your palate.

    Wander through Berkeley Square

Now it’s time to enjoy a slow walk in and around Berkeley Square Garden, a beautiful garden square that’s rich in history. Now unless you are an endurance athlete you might get a bit tired. Here is the good news. There are plenty of benches in the square, perfect for a short break accompanied by a peaceful environment to recharge its visitor batteries.

    End at Savile Row

The perfect place to round up your walking experience is the Savile Row. It is the perfect way to call it a day at the end of the day after going around Mayfair.

Tips for a Great Walking Tour

To enhance the walking tour experience, several practical considerations should be noted:

    • Comfortable shoes: Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
    • Stay Hydrated: There is a lot of walking involved so carry around a bottle of water you can take swig from throughout the day.
    • Map or GPS: Feel free to whip out your map or GPS to see your current location and the streets you may want to hit so that you won’t miss out on any good hidden gems.
    • Timing: The best time to walk around is in the morning or late afternoon. Enjoy shops and restaurants without the crazy crowd.

    A Walk Around Mayfair

Mayfair is the kind of place that must be visited at least once in a lifetime and explored on foot. So don’t wait to make your way to Mayfair!

If you have any experiences you have enjoyed in Mayfair feel free to mention them below.
