The awards show will honour recordings released from October 1, 2022, through September 15, 2023, with female artists dominating major categories, including the night’s top prize, Album of the Year.

    watch grammy

Most nominees for other prominent categories, like “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year”, are women. This emphasis on female representation is notable because the Recording Academy has been criticized for not adequately recognizing women.

In recent years, the Grammys have worked to bring in a younger and more diverse membership to make the voting process more transparent and fair.

Three new Grammy categories will debut at the 2024 Grammys: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.

    2024 GRAMMYs Pre-show/ceremony start time

Most of the day’s awards (more than 80 of the 94 Grammy categories) will be presented at the Premier Ceremony (the top categories are held for the primetime ceremony).

    Start Time:

The Premiere Ceremony will stream live at 3:30 pm ET / 12:30 pm PT.

Who is nominated for a Grammy this year?

SZA will enter the night with the most (nine) nine nominations for her album “SOS,” which topped the Billboard 200 for ten straight weeks.

If she wins at least seven of those, she will become the female artist with the most wins in one ceremony. Adele and Beyoncé currently joint-hold the record with six wins in a single night.

SZA is closely followed by Victoria Monet and Phoebe Bridgers, who have been honored with seven nominations each. Taylor Swift is entering the night with six total nods and will compete in each major category: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.

Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Victoria Monét are other artists upwards. Meanwhile, the sole male performer contending for the top three competitions tonight is Jon Batiste.

    Who is hosting the Grammys?

For the fourth consecutive year, comedian, Grammy nominee, actor, author, and podcast host Trevor Noah will host the show tonight.

Trevor Noah is nominated for a Grammy for his 2022 Netflix comedy special “I Wish You Would,” recognized in the “Best Comedy Album” category. He can become only the second Grammy host to win a Grammy that same night.

The first was Kenny Rogers, who won Best Country Vocal Performance, male for “The Gambler” in 1980, when he hosted the awards show for the first of two times.

Who will present awards at the Grammys?

The presenters’ list includes Kacey Musgraves, who won Album of the Year five years ago; Samara Joy, last year’s surprise winner for the Best New Artist; and Meryl Streep, who is nominated for best audiobook, narration, and storytelling recording for Big Tree.

If she wins, it will be her first Grammy award after seven nominations. Streep has won three Oscars awards and three Primetime Emmys.

Billy Joel, a five-time Grammy award winner and 23-time nominee, will perform the single “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first released song in decades.
