Wallbreaker has entered the UK market as a daily supplement powder formulated from the ground up to meet the nutritional requirements of endurance runners, providing in a single product the support that most serious runners have previously had to piece together from multiple separate sources.
Developed by UK-registered nutritionists, the product contains a carefully selected range of ingredients: a full amino acid profile to support the repair of muscle tissue after training, magnesium glycinate to promote healthy muscle function and help ease tiredness and fatigue, a complete B vitamin complex to support energy metabolism, vitamin C for immune health, and vitamin D3, an inclusion of particular relevance to UK-based runners who contend with reduced sunlight exposure for more than half the year. Turmeric extract and black pepper have been included to enhance bioavailability, and an electrolyte blend rounds out the formula to support hydration.
Full transparency is provided on every ingredient, with exact dosages disclosed throughout. The product is manufactured within the UK to GMP standards, and carries vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free, and non-GMO accreditations.
One scoop mixed into water each day is all that is required, and the product is intended to serve as a straightforward replacement for the five or more individual supplements that a dedicated runner would otherwise need to maintain the same level of nutritional coverage.
Wallbreaker was conceived and built by a team with genuine experience of endurance running, including marathons, ultras, and Ironman competitions. The idea stemmed from the founders’ own day-to-day experience of piecing together multiple supplements that were never designed with endurance running in mind, yet still feeling that their bodies were not getting the support they needed to train and recover effectively.
“A lot of runners doing serious mileage are cobbling together products bought from different places and taken inconsistently,” said Daniel Tollié, Co-founder of Wallbreaker.
“It doesn’t give the body what it actually needs week after week. We wanted to make it simple: one daily product, built specifically for runners, that gives the body a proper nutritional foundation to train consistently and recover properly.”
The timing of the launch reflects a sport that is growing rapidly in the UK. Applications to this year’s TCS London Marathon surpassed 1.1 million for the first time, setting a new record. Across the country, more than six million adults run regularly, and membership of run clubs is growing at close to 60% per year. Parkrun has become part of the weekly routine for hundreds of thousands of people, whilst first-time race entrants are up 13% compared to the previous year.
The evidence on injury rates among recreational runners tells a less encouraging story. Studies have repeatedly placed the proportion of runners sustaining an injury in any given year at between 37 and 56%. A 2025 cross-sectional study examining runners of differing abilities and distances reported that 53% had been injured within the past year. A prospective study conducted over 12 months and published in Sports Medicine Open concluded that one in two recreational runners was injured during the monitoring period. These figures have remained broadly unchanged in spite of the sport’s growing popularity.
The Wallbreaker team believes that a large proportion of the runners now entering the sport are training in earnest for the first time, steadily adding mileage to their weekly schedules without yet recognising the increased nutritional demands that this places on the body.
Their position is that nutrition, rather than training volume, is the more significant factor behind the persistently high injury rates seen in recreational runners. Evidence consistently shows that running does not lead to lasting joint damage in people who are otherwise healthy. What it does do, they argue, is widen the gap between what the body is asked to cope with and what it is given in terms of nutritional recovery support, particularly as mileage increases week on week.
Running regularly depletes the body’s stores of magnesium, which plays a central role in muscle contraction and the reduction of fatigue. It also uses up B vitamins and amino acids needed for muscle repair, and places ongoing demands on the immune system. As training loads increase, these nutritional requirements grow accordingly, yet most runners do not alter their approach to supplementation to reflect this. The consequence is one that many runners will recognise: working hard in training but progressing slowly, while fatigue, soreness, and nagging minor injuries accumulate over the course of a training block.
The founders are equally critical of the wider supplement industry, which they believe has consistently overlooked the needs of runners. Sports nutrition shelves are dominated by products aimed at gym users, from protein powders focused on muscle gain to pre-workout formulations. Where running-specific products do exist, they are almost exclusively electrolyte sachets. Whilst electrolytes serve a purpose, they address only one dimension of the nutritional support that a runner preparing for a half marathon or marathon requires over a sustained period of training.
“We were doing everything right on the road and still feeling like something was missing,” added Tollié. “Runners have been an afterthought in the supplement market for years. As mileage increases, the body’s nutritional demands increase with it but most runners never adjust what they take, and the market has never given them a straightforward way to do so. That is the gap we built Wallbreaker to fill.”
Unless access to better-targeted nutritional products improves, the research implies that injury rates among recreational runners, currently affecting around half of those who participate, are set to remain high as the sport continues to attract new participants.
