Imagine eating the same healthy meal three times a day forever. Our health might be fantastic, but it gets dull quickly. Thankfully, we have many options, and most people enjoy the ability to choose.
Does this sound like you? Do you always try new food items and discover ingredients from different cultures? Or are you like many people with a set menu of 8-10 other meals, and it is a rinse-and-repeat process of palate predictability?
It’s time to get out of the rut and experience tastes and flavours you are not used to. Don’t know where to begin? This is how to find something different to eat.
Look in The Back of Your Pantry
Some shopping days have you filling your cart with too many items, and if something is on sale, you may grab a bunch for a rainy day. If you want something different, go hunting in the back of your pantry to find forgotten tins and boxes of food.
It could be beans or odd pasta shapes, but whatever it is, be bold and bring it into the kitchen. Now, use this as a base to build a meal around, and if you need some help, Google a few recipes and start cooking. This is an excellent way to discover some tasty meals, and you may add some to your regular rotation in the future.
Use Meal Delivery
While you may not be a talented cook, some trained professionals have worked in the kitchen for years, producing incredible meals that taste delicious. You may not be able to eat out in a restaurant every night, but you can get restaurant-quality meals brought right to your door.
This is done through a meal delivery service. They have trained chefs to prepare high-quality food for you and your family using fresh, organic, and locally grown ingredients. There are different plans to join, so if you want to spice up dinner, why not let someone else cook?
This can be for a few meals a week or a full-service food plan to keep you healthy and happy. Many companies also have desserts, snacks, and apps for parties and events. This is certainly a way to find something different to eat!
Have a Food Party
We all create meal plans that change over time, and while you may be bored with your regular fare, friends and family cook something different.
Call some friends and invite them over to a food party. This is more than just dinner because it can involve anything from breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts and even snacks. Have everyone pick three dishes they want to prepare, and then bring the ingredients to the party. You get to spend the afternoon cooking and socializing as you prepare some amazing dishes.
Then, it’s time to pick. Take turns walking around the table, and everyone has to choose three dishes to keep. If you have friends from different cultures and countries, there will probably be several meals you’ve never seen. Everyone will love this and bring home new food items to present to their families. Before you know it, this food party could be a monthly event.
Watch Some Cooking Shows
TV can be a great source of inspiration and discovery for what to eat, and there are tonnes of cooking shows, including:
- BBQ
- Baking
- Salads
- Vegan
- Meat centric
- Seafood
- Raw eating
Use these to discover different meals you may not have thought about. There are shows where you can cook alongside them and pause if you need to or learn a few new recipes and be entertained simultaneously.
Get the Kids to Decide
Usually, the parents cook the meals, and it may even be one spouse who plans meals, shops and prepares everything. This can be biased, and while their goal is to keep on a budget and provide sustenance, it is usually the same meals every week. To change things up, have your kids decide on next week’s meal plan.
Have them sit at the table and work together, coming up with seven days’ worth of meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then take them shopping with you for supplies. Chances are they will be into it because they have control. You can even ask them to make meals, too. This will be a different meal plan than you are used to.
This is how to find something different to eat. Yes, it will take some effort, but most things in life are worth doing. Ultimately, you will have overhauled your meal plan and introduced some new food that everyone will enjoy.
